This calligraphy piece features a combination of square and round strokes, with occasional sharp strokes. The running script has a regular script meaning, and some characters have a stroke of strokes, such as a fork at the end of the "history" character, showing changes in regularity. It can be described as a stroke of genius.
Xu Shujian (1861-1941), also known as Qingquan, Baiye, Jiangdong Shuojiansheng, and later Huayin Laoren, was from Chaiwan Town, Rugao. In the eleventh year of the Guangxu reign (1885), he became a scholar, and in the twentieth year of the Guangxu reign, he supplemented his income from the granary. Proficient in literature and history, skilled in poetry, calligraphy, and painting. In the 28th year of the Guangxu reign, Rugao Normal School was established and appointed as the supervisor, teaching courses such as Chinese literature, history, and painting for 8 years. I have close correspondence with Qi Baishi and have had conversations with Zhang Daqian, Lv Fengzi, Han Guojun, Mao Heting, and others.
