Memory of Jiangnan - rubbings exhibition of Suzhou Grand Canal inscriptions |
Hits:6516 Date:2021-07-14 |
Jiangnan is good, and the scenery is old and familiar.
"Recalling Jiangnan" was written when Bai Juyi was 67. Although Bai Juyi has been an assassin of Suzhou for only 17 months, the beautiful scenery of the south of the Yangtze River has left a deep mark in his mind, so that twelve years after he returned to Luoyang, he still can't help asking "can you remember the south of the Yangtze River?" My feelings.
What impressed "Lao Bai" most in Jiangnan? Water, of course! Shantang River, Shangtang River, Xujiang River, moat, Panmen, changmen and other water gates, which used to be the main channel of the Suzhou canal, are connected with the inner city water system of Suzhou, forming a dense river network, which not only nourishes the rich land of fish and rice in the south of the Yangtze River, but also infiltrates the exquisite and elegant cultural character of the south of the Yangtze River.
Suzhou is an important cultural ancient city along the Grand Canal. The river revolves around the city and the city is prospered by the river. For thousands of years, the ancient city and the canal have been accompanied and complement each other. In June 2014, China's Grand Canal was successfully applied for the world heritage, and the four old canals and seven heritage sites in Suzhou were included in the world cultural heritage list. Therefore, Suzhou has become the only city along the canal to apply for the world heritage with the concept of "ancient city". It can be said that the water city Suzhou is a unique urban cultural landscape of the Grand Canal and an outstanding model of the integration of ancient city building and water conservancy technology.
On July 15, 2021, Haian Museum and Suzhou stele museum will jointly hold the "memory of Jiangnan - Suzhou Grand Canal stele rubbings Exhibition". This exhibition takes "the Grand Canal in the stele" as the core, and selects more than 30 stele rubbings closely related to the Suzhou section of the Grand Canal in the past dynasties, striving to start from the aspects of bridge transportation, political economy, cultural style and so on, Integrate historical materials and scenes to tell the audience the Suzhou story of the Grand Canal.
The exhibition is open to citizens free of charge. Citizens and friends are welcome to visit. |
